Coffee, Rain, and Rainbow

Coffee, Rain, and a Rainbow

It was cold, windy, and raining this morning. It is the sort of weather that makes you think twice about going out. But I needed the air, so I filled my coffee mug, pulled on my jacket, scarf, gloves and hat (Highlands in March!) and headed to my favourite bench with the dog.

There’s something about sitting out in it, even when the weather’s wild. The wind on your face, the ground under your wellie boots, the simple act of being outside — it helps. I sat for a while, coffee warm in my hands, the dog close by, both of us watching the rain move over the hills.

And then the rainbow appeared. Bright, bold, and brief. A reminder that without the rain, you don’t get the colour.

I always notice when I let out a long breath or a quiet sigh, that’s when I know it’s done me good. It’s involuntary, naturally occurring and part of the benefit of getting outdoors. A small reset. No fuss, just fresh air and a moment of stillness.
